New Year/New Media painting workshop
featuring photo transfer, acrylic molds and contemporary collage
@ Jay Etkin Gallery
942 S. Cooper Street, Memphis TN 38104
Weekend & Weekday sessions offered
If you're like me you take many many iPhone photos but rarely print them or use them in your art. Yet such photos can be a wonderful resource for imagery both abstract and objective. In this workshop participants use their own I-phone or tablet photos as the starting point for multi-layered paintings on cotton rag, Yupo paper and water color paper. Expect unconventional tools and experimental practices with acrylic paint, pen & ink, pastel, charcoal and collage. In addition we'll explore some less familiar acrylic mediums such as self leveling gel and clear tar gel to form glazes, acrylic reversals and acrylic molds.
Weekend session: 2+ days $250 (includes materials) Friday, Feb 3rd 6-8 PM, Saturday, Feb 4th 9am - 3 pm, Sunday, Feb 5th 9 am - 3 pm
Weekday session: 3 days ($325 includes materials). Monday, Feb 6th 9am- 3 pm, Tuesday, Feb 7th, 9am- 3 pm, Wednesday, Feb 8th, 9am- 3 pm
